Village Manager Job Posting

The Village of Lake Odessa (population 1988) is seeking a self-motivated and experienced local government administrator to serve as its next village manager. Located on the shore of Jordan Lake in southeastern Ionia County, Lake Odessa is equidistant from Grand Rapids, Battle Creek, and Lansing. Its location affords residents easy access to opportunities for employment and entertainment to complement its small-town charm and hospitality. Lake Odessa offers a unique blend of a small core village set in an agricultural area with the amenities of a lakefront community. The current village workforce comprises ten full-time employees and two part-time staff members. The general fund budget for FY 2024-25 is $2.7 million. The unassigned fund balance as of February 28, 2024 was equal to 145% of expenditures.

The ideal village manager candidate will be an experienced leader with excellent oral and written communication skills and knowledge of the full range of services and responsibilities of a local government organization. He or she will have demonstrated the ability to multi-task, be approachable, positive and energetic, have a sense of humor, and be a team player. A bachelor’s degree in public administration or a related field is required along with three to five years of supervisory experience in local government or similar organizations.
